Yeah, still not sure I trust it after Prometheus. Cos the trailers for Prometheus sold it as an real Alien style movie, then it really wasn't. I'm cautiously optimistic though, this does look cool

Watched all 3 trailers, I don't have much hope for it being good. Might be another Prometheus. Perhaps when more details come out, things may look better.

Look, I am not saying that most of the script writers in Hollywood need to be locked in stocks and have their arse caned in the public square as punishment.........but that is exactly what should happen.

I saw this tonight and quite enjoyed it. It was pretty twisted. I wasn't too sure about it in the first half but by the end I was looking forward to seeing the continuation of the saga.

But of course it doesn't hold a candle to the original two Alien movies. It reminds me of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, and Ridley Scott has even made reference to that.

Has anyone else seen Covenant yet? Thoughts?

Basically, if you enjoyed Prometheus, you will enjoy this. It has very similar elements like spectacular cinematography, a fantastic soundtrack and Michael Fassbender being cold and calculating.

If you didn't like Prometheus this has a lot of the same problems that film did, like weak human characters. In fact the crew of Prometheus were much more interesting than the crew of Covenant. Spoiler:
There is a distinct lack of the title character until the end of the film in this one too.
Though they ramped up the gore and horror aspect for this story, which was much better.

Jingles on youtube mentioned that there was a lot of blood and stuff in this movie and it was only rated 15+ in the UK lol. It's funny how the old movies that were rated R18 at the time, don't hold up to todays standards in terms of age restriction. I got Mad Max on bluray a month or more ago, it still has R18 on it for its high level violence lol.

I will have to wait til the movie hits the internet, before I will see it. I want to see it now but I really don't feel like going to the cinema. Same with the new bladerunner movie, I want to see it so I can see how bad it is.....or if I'm lucky, how good it is.

I liked it, it was much better than Prometheus, much more like an Alien movie. It still got a bit weird and prometheus-like in the middle, but for the most part it was pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. Fassbender pretty much stole the show though as the two androids.

It wasn't scary at all though, not even a little bit. They ramped up the gore and the violence, but there was pretty much no tension or suspense or scares at all, and I'm a huge pussy when it comes to scary movies/games so if it didn't scare me at all then its REALLY tame. I think the Alien is less scary when its all explained, its scarier when its an unknown quantity

I think the movie would have been better if Prometheus didn't exist though, the weakest parts of it are the parts where its trying to tie itself back to Prometheus and explain the fallout from the end of that movie. If it didn't have to fartass around in the middle doing that it would have been a tighter, better movie.

Was not a fan of it

Spoiler:
I thought the first 45 minutes of it was great, but then it goes so far off in another direction. It's not an Alien film, its more a sequel to Prometheus than it is an alien film. If it was called Prometheus 2 i probably wouldn't have hated it so much, but i went in expecting an Alien film, not a film tied to the events of Prometheus that doesn't even answer much from that film... The "Alien" shows up in like the last 30 minutes. The 'twist' they try to play with David is predictable from the moment you meet him, you instantly know whats going to happen. The people in that space crew that are responsible for the lives of a few thousands they are all idiots.

Anyway there's lots of s*** i didn't like.

This series of alien movies are it's own branch and supposedly has it's own mythology. I really wish people would go into it NOT expecting a scary suspenseful Alien style movie, but something set in the same awesome universe but with a different theme and style.

Prometheus was amazing once I let go of Alien/s expectations. Unfortunately this one has Alien in the title.... so really f**** with you.

Looking forward to watching it but :( no one to watch it with.

This pretty much IS trying to be an Alien movie though, it has eggs, it has facehuggers, it has a zenomorph bursting out of someone's chest. Its just that its trying to keep the fans of Prometheus happy as well so it ends up stuck somewhere in the middle and isn't really going to be a totally satisfying follow up to Prometheus for people who wanted more of that, and isn't really going to be a totaly satisfying Alien movie for the people who wanted that. They need to pick one or the other and go all in

Right, that sounds really lame. I honestly think Prometheus has a much better storyline than Alien, really disappointed they tried another f*****g Alien movie.

Agreed, better to pick one.

Why though? It had a great cast, great acting, great CGI, a decent story and we got to see the awesome Engineers up close. Also got more info on how Aliens came about.

Sure the people acted really dumb, the black goo made no sense but a lot of it is answered on a second watching (black goo) or viewing the extra material.

I thought Prometheus had great atmosphere and was visually very cool, the problem was it was marketted as an Alien prequel and it was a really, really s*** Alien prequel. If it was never tied to alien and was just a standalone Sci-fi movie in its own right, I think it would have done much better

Yes, so did I. I actually liked the 'science' in the 'fiction' of the movie and the cool way it was presented. I was intrigued by the Engineers and just what those bastards are up yo. I hope this new movie explains a bit of that for me.

Like the Drones they used to map the spaceship? That's actually happening. The data transfer/rendition rate is a bit slower though... but works the same.
