A modern combat adventure coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch on August 29. The announcement came at the Ubisoft E3 conference earlier today with Shigeru Miyamoto joining Ubisoft on stage with a toy gun from the game confirming, "these are a little different than the weapons you see in Ghost Recon". But a shooter this ain't, think Mario meets Fire Emblem.

Here's the announcement trailer. Development is being handled by Ubisoft in Europe and will play unlike any Mario game we've seen before.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle looks interesting, with both a heavy exploration component and turn-based battles. Again, think Fire Emblem -- but in the bright, colourful, and fun world of the Mushroom Kingdom. It also looks fantastic to boot, with deep strategic gameplay. In fact, Ubisoft noted during the announcement that development on the game has been progressing for the past three years. And it shows.

Here's the full presentation from Ubisoft's E3 conference early this morning, packed with an in-depth gameplay demonstration that you should definitely check out.

Yeah, it looks great. A bright, colourful, and deep Nintendo Switch exclusive from Ubisoft. Starring Mario to boot.

Was expecting this to be some throwaway party game, not a turn based tactical battle game. It actually looks pretty fun, I always liked those turn based tactics games like Final Fantasy Tactics
