This game continues to impress every time we see anything new around it, and today at the PlayStation Showcase, it was one of the more immediate standouts amidst a reel of games that failed, wholly, to ignite a heap of excitement (Spidey 2 not withstanding). But we definitely recommend seeing where this is going, because it's looking magic.

Immortals of Aveumâ„¢ is a single-player first-person magic shooter, where you'll master three colors of magic and unleash spells with deadly skill in a game that defies FPS conventions.

Experience fast, fluid, first-person spell-based combat that's easy to learn and satisfying to master, where magic is at the core of both offense and defense. Be creative and leverage all three colors of magic and be rewarded for clever chained attacks and well-timed counters.

Unlock and upgrade more than 25 Spells and 80 Talents. Discover, upgrade, and craft hundreds of pieces of magical gear. Then synergize your playstyle across all three colors of magic and become Aveum’s most powerful Triarch Magnus.

An in-depth breakdown of proceedings can be poured over on the PlayStation Blog, but the key takeaways are that the game will allow players to pick a playstyle that suits, but will also be able to change that out to combat what looks to be fairly robust and dynamic AI baddies. Big bosses will also feature and, as we've touched on already, a lot of environmental puzzle-solving using magic and world around you is also a key aspect, giving this a fairly traditional gaming feel, but with a very, very shiny and unique look.

Immortals of Aveum is due to release on July 20 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Stay tuned for more as we have it.
