The remake of the classic 16-bt SNES action-RPG Secret of Mana, is out now for PS4 and PC (via Steam). In place of the 2D sprites of the original though you get entirely new 3D graphics, plus voice acting. Both of which can be seen in the launch trailer. As fans of the original, concept-wise, we're all for a remake.

But, in execution it's just, well...

On the plus side there will be an option to switch between the remastered music and the classic score from the SNES original. If only there were an option to do the same with the graphics.

In fact the new 3D visuals look a little crude, and quite basic. PS2-era basic. Even so, as fans of the original we're keen to check this out so stay tuned for impressions.
