Let's face it, Aliens Universe games are as hit and miss as they come, with the misses far outweighing the hits, and largely because there's not enough of an expansive look into the rich world of the franchise. Or in how far you can go with something wholly original. Now, however, the forthcoming real-time tactical squad-based action game, Aliens: Dark Descent, is looking very much the part in this new trailer.

And we're quietly optimistic and excited about it.

In Aliens: Dark Descent, the horrors and wonders of an authentic Alien narrative unfold through a cinematic campaign full of sinister secrets, iconic Xenomorphs and brand-new threats. A range of tactical abilities come into play to recruit, level up and command a squad of Colonial Marines in real-time and as one unit with intuitive controls on console. Any command issued over comms is swiftly obeyed by the Marine best-equipped for the situation according to their abilities and equipment. Players will need to use their wits to navigate expansive, persistent, and reactive levels. However, each marines’ vitals should be monitored cautiously — for death is permanent.
The game is set to release on console only at this point, targeting PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S this June 20. Pre-orders are now open at retailers around the country.

Stay tuned for more on this one as we have it.
