Assassin’s Creed Mirage is out October 12, 2023 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, with Ubisoft describing the game as an "homage to the series." And that's visible in the extended look at gameplay, which is focused on stealth, parkour, jumping into haystacks, and assassinating key targets with the ol' Creed staple of jumping on top of them and stabbing them.

Assassin's Creed Mirage takes place in a single dense and sprawling city, ninth-century Baghdad, with an architectural look and feel not seen since the first game. Although classical in its approach, Ubisoft notes it's a "modern take on the parkour, stealth, and assassinations gameplay elements that have defined the franchise for over fifteen years."

And with that we get glimpses of acquiring new gear, skills, choosing missions, and all of the visual upgrades that have come in the decade-plus since the series first debuted during the Xbox 360 and PS3 generation.

In Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you are Basim, a cunning street thief with nightmarish visions, seeking answers and justice. After an act of deadly retribution, Basim flees Baghdad and joins an ancient organization – The Hidden Ones. As he learns their mysterious rituals and powerful tenets, he will hone his unique abilities, discover his true nature, and come to understand a new Creed – one that will change his fate in ways he never could have imagined.

And as a nice little bonus Ubisoft has confirmed that the game has a few visual filters to mimic the blue tones of the first game for those looking to rekindle some of that early AC action.
